Hugh Hardie

Hugh Hardie burst on to the scene back in 2014 when his track ‘Tearing Me Apart’ was included in the celebratory Hospital ‘We Are 18′ compilation. Since then he’s released a flurry of single tracks with the label, the ‘City Soul EP’ and his sublime debut LP ‘Colourspace’ and has shown no signs of stopping anytime soon.

Hugh’s smooth sounds are inspired by an eclectic mix of styles, from the rollers of Hospital main-stays High Contrast, Nu:Tone and Logistics all the way to neo-soul and R&B artists Eryka Badu and Musiq Soulchild – not to mention the deep pads and old-school stabs of house and garage.

We’re truly honored for our own Charlie Rebel to have gotten the chance to speak with Hugh and find out which 5 Tunes are currently at the top of his playlist and he did not disappoint! Check out his list today and make sure to follow Hugh Hardie at the links below.

1) GLXY - ‘Research & Development’ (Shogun Audio)

Title track from the brand new debut GLXY album. Huge, uplifting soulful energy in this tune. I’ve been DJing this for a little while and always look forward to cueing it up. Feel good and mega vibey.

2) Skantia - ‘Allure’

Beautiful production and a lovely vocal. Very original, very fresh and always goes down really well on the floor.

3) Alix Perez - 'SWRV' (1985 | Music)

Impeccably crafted, what else would you expect from Perez. Vocal, keys and raw, crunchy drums. Perfect liquid.

4) Lenzman - ‘In My Mind’ [Break Remix] (North Quarter)

Classic Break take on an undeniable Lenzman anthem. Cannot wait to DJ this out once the clubs finally re-open! The dub bleep just after the drop is sick.

5) LSB - ‘Blinding’

Out now on vinyl, this one takes it back to 1994 with a vibe I haven’t heard recreated recently quite like this. It’s a must-have if you like that good good good vibration coming out your speakers!

We want to send a massive Thank you to Hugh Hardie for taking the time to put together such an epic list of Music for our Top 5 series. We will be back with another exciting list of Music soon so make sure to keep eye on our social media pages.
